When I was younger I was so naïve, and brain washed by magazines, that an article I read in Shout mag. said something like “don’t wear heels if you want boys to like you, they don’t like girls that are taller than them, because they like to feel protective.” for ages, ive thought about that, absoloutely ages, and I still wore heels, but now I’m angry. I’m angry that young girls (the audience of Shout) are being told to do shitty things like wear flat shoes, so that they can be liked, and to make men feel powerful. How come there’s even a “how to get boys to like you” page, where’s the article of “be yourself, embrace it, and don’t bow down to the patriarchal society where men are supposed to be impressed by us, and to not be challenged in regards to feelings/and or literal power”. I want these shoes, and fuck it, I don’t want to feel “protected over” because I don’t want to feel un-empowering and weak when I’m not with a taller man. With any man for that matter. WHY THE FUCK DO SHOES MATTER. WHY AM I SUPPOSED TO MAKE A MAN FEEL SUPERIOR OVER ME? HUH? I’m done, and I’m buying those fabulous shoes.
Guy’s don’t even care about shoes. The only thing I’ve ever thought when seeing someone walk in high heels was “holy shit that looks hard to walk in.” Then I tried it, and I was right. Seriously, how do you ladies spend entire parties in those?!
